Leibniz is a hardcore grunge trio from Brighton, UK. Built on a foundation of modern hardcore punk and sludgey 90s grunge, Leibniz have crafted their uniquely aggressive and cathartic sound - a force for transgender liberation, political angst and emotional turmoil. Described by IdiotEQ as “frantic energy and relentless pace, [Leibniz] encapsulates the overstimulation of a world that feels impossible to navigate”.
Having toured relentlessly since 2024 across the UK and burgeoning into Europe for the first time in 2026, Leibniz have garnered a wide fanbase and community throughout DIY queer audiences and mainstream punk crowds alike, playing festivals such as Brighton’s Homegrown, and supporting bands like Split Dogs, Babe Haven (Nov 2026), and HIRS.

Most recently, Leibniz teamed with Ben Hampson to mix Self-Congratulatory, their new single which treads new sonic territory for the band, while standing as a proudly aggressive anthem against tokenisation within the music scene. To accompany the single, Leibniz teamed up with award-winning filmmaker Jesse Williams to create an unapologetic, unsettling music video. Now, with a Split EP and accompanying tour on the way for October 2026 and another EP and touring in the works for 2027, Leibniz’s intentions are clear: to keep the momentum building and explode onto more stages with their uncompromising energy.
The live show is the most important aspect for Leibniz. It's an important place where like-minded people from all walks of life can find community. Today, with transgender rights under heavy attack and marginalised people from all corners of society finding public life harder, we need something to remind us it will be okay. Somewhere to find catharsis, to let those frustrations out and experience a small moment of liberation surrounded by like-minded people. It’s in the live show that Leibniz strives to make this true. With unhinged, frenetic performances and a consistent message of community, people from all walks of working class life can find connection here. In a time of online disarray, social media anxiety, and AI slop at every turn, Leibniz clears a space for something real in a time of unrealness.
After breaking out onto the scene through Small Pond's Emerging program in 2024, Leibniz have gone from strength to strength. 2024 saw the release of their debut EP "Lifetime Patient", and the 2025 demo published to Bandcamp quickly sold out on cassettes printed through DIY label Death Before Detransition.
In 2026, Leibniz have partnered with friends in the UK scene, Misgendered, to unveil their split EP titled "Compassion", set to release on October 2nd. Despite the sonic differences between the two bands, both had evolved through the UK's queercore community and share these songs which reflect many different perspectives of pain and suffering. And like any community as strong as that which Leibniz have spent time building, we dance, fight, and suffer together.
